Musings

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

Good morning. I don’t really have much to say. I miss Bobbi.

I talked to Bobbi’s mom last night and she feel much better. That is welcome news. I had breakfast with Aunt Mary, Uncle Richard and Aunt Gency as well as brother Dave. It’s always a pleasure when we get to break bread together, and as usual Aunt Mary kept us well entertained.

I forgot to mention that Monday morning I had breakfast with Aunt Betty and Uncle Lionel. Aunt Betty is also a “survivor”. I had a wonderful time, especially since Auntie M was there to lighten things up.

Other than that and the parade floats not much is happening. I made a little slide show of how you turn a 4-wheeler into a train engine. It’s a 900k file so you dial-up folks may find it a slow download. Float

I’ll keep you posted.

Stray Cats?

There's a 4-wheeler under there!

There's a 4-wheeler under there!

Well, I don’t really have a lot to report about. I took the afternoon off and road to Greenville with my brother Dave and his wife to see the Brian Setzer Orchestra perform. It was a fabulous show. It was He and The Stray Cats and about 20 other musicians. If you like Rockabilly (which I do) it was the show to see. Brother Steve and his wife Susan got us box seats. Whoohoo!

Sorry about the delay on floor pics. I was working on it and forgot to take more pictures. Now Kim is sick so the floor is delayed. That gives me more time to build my parade float. The parade is this Saturday, Dec. 12 at 5:30pm and it’s supposed to rain and snow. Well, at least my part is waterproof. Okay, I can reveal the secret- I built a train! It’s a Thomas The Tank Engine replica built on a 4-wheeler pulling a string of trailers that are made to look like railway cars. This picture is from Sunday, and he looks even better now. He should- the paper mache and Styrofoam face took 9 hours.

I miss Bobbi. I’ll keep you posted

Happy Birthday Nonnie!!!

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009

I talked to Bobbi’s mom last night. It was her 82nd birthday! Happy Birthday Nonnie. Donna (or Nonnie, whichever you prefer) has had, I learned, pneumonia. Dang. She’s better now, or so she says…. She and Bobbi’s sister Jill are driving home from NH on Friday. Y’all keep Nonnie in your prayers.

Thank you all for checking in. I’m making it. If I stay distracted the I don’t get so sad, but I’m afraid I’m postponing the grieving process. I’m trying to find the balance. I’m very busy working on a Christmas parade float, and I’ve been working on Kim’s upstairs. New pictures coming soon! I’ll keep you posted.

December….Brrrrr

It seems winter is coming. I can tell, because I have a cold. My baby girl gave it to me. Ah well, we share things in our family. Yeah, I’m up late (or very very early). I might need a sick day, but other than that I am doing so well health wise. I had a wonderful time with Ethan at Cub Scouts, and then we put up the kids Christmas tree. It was fun.

The holidays are hard at times. That’s all I have to say about that.

I’ll keep you posted.
